Andy I could delete it and start again and add the others, but then I would need to delete the posts and start from scratch, I also thought everyone would remain anonymous but they have'nt.
Also some so called micro barbs are as big as normal barbs depending on the manufacturer, don't you agree.

Come on camo what hooks do you use barded/bardless and do you think that bardless cause more damage then a barded hook would?

I use barbed for almost all my fishing, last year I went on a weeks holiday to a fishery that I never fished before and did very nicely thanks even to catching the second biggest fish in the lake.
The venue had a strange rule on hooks "manufactured size 8 barbless" only to be used and the state of most of the fish I caught was terrible, so if I never use barbed hooks again I will not be sorry.
The venues I fish now have banned the use of barbless hooks on all waters, due to the damage caused by barbless hooks.
The only time I use crushed barbs are for Pike fishing. So naturaly i voted barbed.

Barbed gets my vote every time, fished on to many barbless waters catching fish with permanent smiles!Fishing millstone in france soon only problem is its a barbless only lake with some big kippers and its not a runs water so any carp i hook i want to land, any one with some experience recommend a decent hook?(that means you Al)

Lurch, Like yourself I have used many hooks over the years, from the super specialists, powercarp, owner etc, I now use the kamasan b775 and swear by them, not sure if they do a barbless one though, why not file the barb off if you have to or crush it if that's allowed.
They have an inturned eye which helps with the hook hold and with the bait mounted tight to the bend they act like a claw and when they go in they are not coming out. And they are extremely strong.
