got mine from usa, cheaper over there only thing you have to order the floats from over there to. well you cast the float out, its looks like a mini sub, and it send's out a sonar to map out the bottom of the lake and find the fish, the signal is then sent back to the portable screen and it shows you what the bottom looks like and where the fish are if there is any, and at what depth!!!!! they are advertised in most mags.

Well still not a bad price, but it sounds very interesting to say the least, would;t mind one my self just to look at what the A1 pits look like and to find out where all the gravel patches are, cheating in a way but, hey who cares when your catching fish ;D

They only have a short range over here of approximately 30 -60 yards unless you take off the top of the float and pull out the spring like Ariel then seal off the float and you can get a much improved range of approximately 100 yds. The only problem with the Hummingbirds are that if a piece of weed or debris floats underneath the sonar sends back an image of Fish. If however you have the use of a boat / dinghy the Eagle 320 is the Echo sounder to have.

They only have a short range over here of approximately 30 -60 yards Thanks mate thats a big help , as i fish at long range around 110-120 yards then it's no good for me. So it looks like a diving suit and an oxygen tank for me the old fashion way ;D

Ive seen the finders advertised for $99 on the Hummingbird site as I'm currently looking at buying one for the small water Im fishing at the moment. On the site it says that the Green RSS units are only for use in America & Canada, anyone know why this is?

Possibly the frequency used though not sure will check it out though, I have stopped selling the Hummingbirds due to too many faults occuring and they used to be serviced locally but that company has ceased trading.

What sort of faults have they been having and are they common problems? Also is there any other you would reccomend at the budget end of the market, approx £150 max?

Just that they were so unreliable every other one I have sold in a year has been returned to be serviced which gives me little faith in their products, it appeared that they were losing their memory week to week.
